Wix integration
Add live chat to your Wix website
In Wix, the Hooky bubble goes into the site’s custom code: one line, on all pages, and your visitors can write to you. You reply from your phone, just like a messaging app.
Why Hooky on a Wix website
A tradesperson, a restaurant, a coach: on a Wix website, most visitors have a simple question before they book or buy. A chat bubble lets them ask it right away, with no form and no phone call. With Hooky, you answer them from your phone, with a notification for every message.
Before you start
According to Wix’s help, custom code requires a published site, with a Premium plan and a connected domain. Without them, the Custom Code option doesn’t show up in the settings.
Install Hooky in Wix
Create your Hooky account (free for one site), add your site with your domain, and copy the
<script>tag from Sites.Open the site settings in your Wix dashboard: Settings, then Custom Code (under Advanced, or Development & integrations).
Click + Add Custom Code, paste the tag and give it a name (“Hooky”).
Choose All pages, the Load code once option, and the Body - end placement. Click Apply.
The tag to paste (yours contains your site’s real key):
<script src="https://heyhooky.com/widget.js" data-site-key="SITE_PUBLIC_KEY" async></script>
With All pages, Wix also adds the bubble to pages you create later: nothing to redo.
Check that the bubble shows up
Custom code doesn’t run in the editor: open your published site, on your domain, and reload. The bubble is at the bottom of the screen. Send yourself a message: it lands in Messages, and as a notification on your phone.
No bubble? Check that the code is active on All pages, that the site has been published, and that your domain is in the site’s allowed addresses in Hooky.
Reply to your visitors
You reply from the Hooky app (iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android, Apple Watch) or the web dashboard. Your visitor has no account to create and no app to install, can attach a photo or a PDF, and if they leave after giving their email, your reply reaches them by email. Their messages arrive translated into your language.
Frequently asked questions
I don’t have a Premium plan
Wix keeps custom code for Premium sites with a connected domain: on a free site, the tag can’t be added.
What if I change my domain?
After changing domains, check in Custom Code that the tag is still there, and add the new address to the site in Hooky.
Does it work with Wix Studio?
Yes: the site’s custom code is added the same way, on all pages, at the end of the body.
How much does it cost?
Nothing for one site. Beyond that, the price depends on the number of sites. The app is free.
