Claude integration
Add live chat to a website built with Claude
You built your site by talking to Claude, on claude.ai or with Claude Code. Keep going the same way: paste the Hooky prompt into the conversation, and Claude adds the chat bubble to your pages. Then you reply to your visitors from your phone.
Why add chat to a site built with Claude
Claude helped you write the site; it won’t be there to answer your visitors. You will, as long as they can reach you easily. The Hooky bubble takes one line, with no backend to write, and the inbox is in your pocket.
In a conversation on claude.ai
Create your Hooky account (free for one site), add your site and copy the prompt from Sites: the key is already in it.
Go back to the conversation where you built the site (or open a new one and attach your HTML files), then paste the prompt.
Grab the updated files: Claude gives you back each page with the tag right before
</body>.Put them online wherever your site is hosted (Netlify, Vercel, GitHub Pages, your web host…), replacing the old files.
The prompt for Claude
Add the Hooky chat bubble to my site, on every page. Paste this tag once per page, right before </body> (or once in the shared template, if there is one):
<script src="https://heyhooky.com/widget.js" data-site-key="SITE_PUBLIC_KEY" async></script>
Don’t change the script URL or the data-site-key attribute, and don’t change anything else. Give me back each modified file in full, ready to replace the old one.
Previews shown on claude.ai (artifacts) restrict scripts from other sites: the bubble may not appear there. That’s normal; test on your live site.
With Claude Code
Claude Code works directly in your project’s files: give it the same prompt, it finds the shared template (index.html, app/layout.tsx, an Astro layout…) and adds the tag. Review the change, then deploy as usual.
Even shorter: Claude Code can create your Hooky account itself. Tell it:
Let Claude Code do it all
Read https://heyhooky.com/llms.txt, then create a Hooky account with the email lila@example.com and install the bubble on https://example.com
It calls Hooky’s signup API, receives your site’s tag and installs it. You get an email, “Your Hooky account is ready”: click Activate my account within 7 days. Claude never sees the activation link or your messages. Details in the docs.
Check that the bubble shows up
Open your live site and reload: the bubble is at the bottom of the screen. Send yourself a message: it lands in Messages. Nothing? Check that the new files are online (clear the cache), that the tag is on the page you’re looking at, and that the address is in the site’s allowed addresses in Hooky. To test locally, add localhost.
Reply to your visitors
You reply from the Hooky app (iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android) or the web dashboard, with a notification for every message. Your visitors don’t create an account, can attach a photo or a PDF, and if they leave after giving their email, your reply follows them by email.
And to know what’s happening on your site, ask Claude: “count signups with Hooky”. It adds Hooky.track in the right place (docs).
Frequently asked questions
Why the llms.txt link?
It’s our documentation in a format AI assistants read directly. With it, Claude knows how to install the bubble, create an account and count your stats, without making up a key.
Can Claude create my account from claude.ai?
It needs to be able to send a request to Hooky’s API, which Claude Code can do. In a plain conversation, create your account yourself (two minutes) and paste the prompt.
My site isn’t online yet
Publish it first: the bubble needs a real address. A page opened as a file (file://) doesn’t have one.
What about the MCP server?
It’s coming soon: Claude Code will then be able to install Hooky by itself, without a prompt. Until then, llms.txt already does almost everything.
