Webflow integration

Add live chat to your Webflow site

In Webflow, the Hooky bubble goes into the site’s custom code, in the footer: one line, one publish, and your visitors can write to you on every page. You reply from your phone.

Why add chat to a Webflow site

Webflow is for sites that convert: agencies, products, firms. A chat bubble is the most direct contact you can offer a hesitant visitor, on every page, CMS pages included. Hooky fits it in one line, with no Webflow interaction to build and no heavy widget to integrate.

Before you start

Site-wide custom code isn’t available on Webflow’s free plan: according to Webflow’s help, you need an active paid site plan, or certain Workspace plans (Core, Growth, Agency or Freelancer). Without one, the custom code fields are disabled.

Install Hooky in Webflow

  1. Create your Hooky account (free for one site), add your site with its addresses (my-site.webflow.io and your domain), and copy the <script> tag from Sites.

  2. Open the site settings in Webflow: Site settings, Custom code tab.

  3. Paste the tag into Footer code (code placed right before </body>, on every page), then click Save changes.

  4. Publish the site. Custom code doesn’t run in the Designer: only the published version shows the bubble.

The tag to paste (yours contains your site’s real key):

<script src="https://heyhooky.com/widget.js" data-site-key="SITE_PUBLIC_KEY" async></script>

Why Footer code rather than Head code? Webflow recommends putting scripts right before </body>, so the page renders first. The bubble loads async anyway.

Check that the bubble shows up

Open your published site (the webflow.io address or your domain) and reload: the bubble is at the bottom of the screen. Send yourself a message: it lands in Messages, and as a notification on your phone.

No bubble? In this order: was the site published again after adding the tag, is the tag in the site’s Footer code (not a single page’s), and is the address you opened in the site’s allowed addresses in Hooky?

webflow.io and your domain

Webflow publishes on a webflow.io address and on your domain. Add both to the site in Hooky: you test on one, your customers write on the other, and everything lands in the same inbox, with the same stats.

Reply to your visitors

You reply from the Hooky app (iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android) or the web dashboard. With the Studio plan, up to five people reply from the same inbox, each on the sites assigned to them: handy for an agency running its clients’ Webflow sites.

Your visitor can attach a photo or a PDF, and if they leave after giving their email, your reply follows them by email.

Frequently asked questions

I’m on Webflow’s free plan

The site’s custom code fields are disabled there: you need a paid site plan (or a Workspace plan that includes it) to add the bubble.

Can I use an Embed element instead?

An Embed only lives on the page where you place it. For a bubble on every page, Footer code in the site settings is the right place.

I run several client sites on Webflow

Create one Hooky site per Webflow site: each has its own key. The Creator plan covers ten sites, Studio fifty with five people, and everything lands in one inbox you can filter by site.

Can I count quote requests?

Yes, with Hooky.track("quote") called after the form is sent, through a bit of custom code. See the docs.
