Framer integration
Add live chat to your Framer site
In Framer there’s no prompt: you paste one line into the site’s custom code, and the Hooky bubble appears on every page from the next publish. Then you reply to your visitors from your phone.
Why add chat to a Framer site
A Framer site is often a polished showcase: a studio, a freelancer, an app launch. Visitors who land there have a specific question (“are you available in March?”, “how much for a logo?”). A chat bubble catches it at the right moment, with no form. Framer itself lists live chat among the uses of custom code.
Install Hooky in Framer
Create your Hooky account (free for one site), add your site with its address (
my-site.framer.websiteor your domain), and copy the<script>tag from Sites.Open the site settings in Framer (Site Settings, called Project Settings in recent versions) and go to the Custom Code section.
Add a script: Add Script (or + if there are already some), name it “Hooky”, paste the tag, and choose the end of the <body> tag as its placement. Keep it on all pages; if you’re asked how often it runs, choose Once.
Publish the site. Custom code doesn’t load in the canvas preview: only the published version shows the bubble.
The tag to paste (yours contains your site’s real key):
<script src="https://heyhooky.com/widget.js" data-site-key="SITE_PUBLIC_KEY" async></script>
Framer renames its menus from time to time: if you can’t find them, search for “Custom Code” in Framer’s help. What matters: code at the site level (not a single page), placed at the end of <body>.
Check that the bubble shows up
Open your published site in a new tab: the bubble is at the bottom of the screen. Move between two pages: it stays there, and so does the conversation. A test message lands in Messages right away.
Nothing showing? Check that you published again, that the code is at the site level and at the end of <body>, and that the address you opened is in the site’s allowed addresses in Hooky, if you declared any.
framer.website and your domain
Your site has a Framer address, and often your own domain. Add both to the site in Hooky: one inbox, the same stats. www. is covered automatically.
Match the bubble to your design
No need to touch Framer for this: in Hooky, on the site’s page, pick the bubble’s color, its side (right or left) and your welcome message, with a live preview. Changes apply without publishing again.
Want a “Message us” button in your menu? Give it a link that calls Hooky.open(), or, simpler in Framer, let the bubble do the job.
Reply to your visitors
A notification on your phone, and you reply from the Hooky app (iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android) or the web dashboard. Your visitor can attach a photo or a PDF (a brief, a mockup), and if they leave the site after giving their email, your reply reaches them by email with a link to pick the conversation back up.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a paid Framer plan?
Framer’s help doesn’t state a minimum plan for custom code. A custom domain does require a paid plan. If the Custom Code section isn’t available on your project, check your plan’s terms with Framer.
I only want the bubble on some pages
Framer lets you limit a script to certain pages. But for chat, the most useful is to have it everywhere: the conversation follows the visitor from page to page.
No prompt for Framer?
Framer is a visual editor: you don’t ask it to write code, you paste the tag yourself. It’s one line, and you never touch it again.
What about stats?
Hooky.track is called from code: in Framer, that means a code component or an override. For a simple showcase site, the bubble is often enough. See the docs.
